‘Create the Family You Want: Boy or Girl’: Sex Selection Advertised in Canadian Newspapers

In the wake of a new study that indicates that unborn girls are being targeted for abortion by certain immigrant groups in Canada, evidence has surfaced that sex selective in vitro fertilization (IVF) is being regularly advertised in Canadian news papers.

A fertility clinic in Washington state has been targeting Indo-Canadians in British Columbia with an ad encouraging them to “create the family you want: Boy or Girl.” The ad features a picture of an ethnic boy and girl attired in traditional Indian garb.

A website address in the ad directs parents interested in sex-selection to the Washington Center for Reproductive Medicine where they learn that preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) is the clinic’s preferred method for “selecting an embryo of known gender facilitating family balancing.

“Facilitating family balancing.”  Yeah, that’s what they are doing.

Beyond this however is the growing idea that children are a commodity to be ordered off of a menu.  The interests being served are the interests of the adults.  They have a vision of themselves and children are being used to serve that vision.  A child has become an accessory.  It’s as if they are buying a painting because it matches the decor in their living room.  How long before people want children with matching eyes?

Certain kinds of children don’t fit this vision.  The perfect adults must have perfect children to reflect the perfection of the adult’s glory.  So disabled children, or difficult children, or otherwise imperfect children, or even the odd unwanted girl must be put away.  An attitude of “In them I will display my glory!” requires high standards.  The potter says to himself “I am worthy only of pots for noble usage.  There shall be no common pots in my house.  Here is some clay.  Let me fashion it after my own image.”

Ironic that they should have such a common and worthless understanding of ‘noble.’

First, the issue of sin.

I’ve never been disturbed about the amount of human sin that we find in our present society…I’m convinced that human beings, without Christ, never evolve or devolve, so this probably hasn’t changed since the beginning of the Fall. What does disturb me about our modern society is (1) how easily convenient it is for us as sinners to sin (every ‘medical’ clinic or personal computer, etc.) and (2) how it has become so sanitized that the sinner does not experience the consequences of sin in the same physical way. (I said physically…socially and spiritually, I think sin probably damages us worse today than it did in years past…which is why there is so much depression, addiction, and suicide.)

Now to the cult of westernized progress.

There is a saying (where it started I don’t know) that goes like this: “Amateurs built the Ark; Experts built the Titanic.” The more we meddle and socially engineer society, the more we seem to mess everything up…and we create new problems that are worse than the problems we tried to solve. We have examples of this in the thousands: our federal safety net programs, our government toying with education, energy, and the health insurance market, etc.

However, from a thousand conversations that I’ve had with kindhearted (and some not so kindhearted) progressive-minded folks (in person, online, etc.), reality doesn’t matter because their faith in something called ‘progress’ doesn’t depend on verifiable results. And besides, the blogs and newspapers they read, or the ‘news’ shows they watch, have taught them—subconsciously or not—to blame the problems that their own manifested theories of central planning not on those theories, but on vacuous abstractions such as ‘capitalism,’ ‘the rich,’ etc. oh oh

We need to pray for these people.

Satan is a strategic thinker.

1.  Eliminate belief that GOD created everything by having an alternative theory with zero evidence - Evolution.  Man is no longer created in GOD’s image but has “evolved” through a natural process.

2.  If we aren’t made in HIS image what’s the big deal about abortion?  If GOD doesn’t have a plan for your life anyway, what’s the big deal about doing “sex selection” or whatever else floats your boat?

3.  If GOD didn’t create everything, why would you believe you are accountable to GOD for your behavior?

Fear of the Lord is the BEGINNING of wisdom.  Remove the fear and all bets are off.  Satan knows how to manipulate us - apparently he’s had some good success in this area.
