RC Sproul on What Determines His Vote
“If I have any issue that determines my vote it is not the Trinity but abortion. Any candidate who supports abortion by law has completely abrogated his responsibility as a governor by failing to protect and maintain the sanctity of life. So I will not ever vote for a candidate in any office including dog-catcher who is pro-abortion.” Dr. RC Sproul (West Coast Ligonier Conference 2012)

This was poster (here?) somewhere recently and I had never read so clear a view of this. Such a declaration has made me rethink my own actions.

That makes it simple. I would add that I will never support a canidate who is in a party that has a platform of pro-death or destruction of the family. Not much left is it?

I had the good fortune to attend the conference mentioned, and heard Sproul state this.
For those who dismiss this as “single issue voting,” and try to argue that the sophisticated thing to do is to conduct some kind of calculus where the right to life and related issues (euthanasia, etc.) are just a few variables in one’s decision as to who to vote for, I’d offer that the Roman church is beginning to experience just what happens when “pro-choice” laity and condoning clergy help elect a succession of essentially pro-abortion politicians, including Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, and our current president.
As with R.C. Sproul, this is one issue where I feel there is no room for compromise. And neither, I’d add, did the earliest Christians.
