When I am Weak, then I am Strong

God has a wonderful sense of humour, and a delicious way of reminding us of the things we need to hear.

This morning, having just finished preaching on 2Corinthians 12:1-10 at our 8am prayer book service, I returned to my seat - the words of Paul ringing in my mind,

2Cor. 12:10 ... when I am weak, then I am strong.

My boss leans over and asks “is your microphone off?”. “Yes”, I reply.

“Good” he responds, “now you might want to consider doing up your fly”.

I held it together until the prayers which we had started got to this verse and response:

V: Clothe your ministers with righteousness

His chosen people were joyful.

BWA-HA-HA!

Now you know what cassocks are for!  Of course, you still have to button them up.

And would wearing a nice surplice be too much to ask?  LOL

Some might say you were welcoming.

ROFL or something like that. Been there and done that at a funeral.

This is God’s wrath against you for not wearing vestments or standing behind a proper pulpit. He smites the evildoers.

Mr. Strong? That’s so wrong.

Dear David,
You have lived through a fear of mine.  This is why I love anglican style cassocks and albs.  There are no zippers and if you do not button when you put on the girdle you have to notice that you are open.

“Uh, excuse me sir.  I was reading an OT commentary the other day and it exegeted Numbers 22:2 in light of Genesis 3:8-11.  What do YOU think?”

Oh, I was in a proper pulpit. I think that’s the only thing that saved my dignity. You may consider that God’s grace upon an evildoer
