BREAKING:  Iranian Pastor Released; Acquitted of Apostasy

If this report is accurate, and I pray that it is, God has indeed worked a miracle.

CSW has been informed that Yousef Nadarkhani, the Church of Iran pastor sentenced to death for apostasy, has been released and is at home with his family.

According to reliable sources, during court proceedings that took place today, Pastor Nadarkhani was acquitted of apostasy,  but found guilty of evangelizing Muslims. He was sentenced to three years imprisonment for the latter charge, but released because he had already served this time.

The Christian young woman in Pakistan was similarly released (and an Imam arrested for trying to frame her for blasphemy).

It might be that prayer and public pressure are having some results in these high profile cases.

But keep up the prayers - contacts in Islamic countries tell me that there is great danger in being out of custody.  “Family honor,” crazy Mullahs whipping up mosques and the like can lead to outbreaks of socially accepted violence.

We need to be in constant intercession for our Lord’s persecuted people.  Also pray for asylum opportunities to open up for those not called to stay under persecution.

Gloria in excelsis Deo!
IXCX NIKA!

All praise to Thee, Almighty and glorious Trinity,
For the hearing of our prayers
And the release of our brother!
Keep him and his family safe.
Protect his congregation.
May his witness bring those who do not know Thee
To the knowledge and love of Thee;
Through Jesus Christ Thy Son our Lord,
In the grace and power of the Holy Ghost.
Amen.

Amen to all, especially Number 2: There are yet many christians oppressed in Iran.  They experience what saints before them have gone through in the Roman Empire and at other terrible times.

Pray that the Lord will deliver them, and whenever possible, keep up the public pressure on Iran.  The Lord only knows precisely how these things work, but if it seems to work, then let’s do what we can.

Wonderful news - thanks be to God.  He stood firm although under enormous pressure, and thanks be to God for that too.  Prayers now for his continued safety and for the release of at least two other imprisoned pastors in Iran and the other Christians and minority faiths under persecution.
