Sorry, I really am trying to be as flexible as possible, but none of this stuff sounds High Church enough to suit me.
Better to go with the designs of Federico Fellini, a true visionary who had his finger on the pulse of ecclesiastical fashion trends 40 years ago. I think it’s time we caught up to him.
Except maybe not in Australia. I can understand why those folks might prefer Calvin Klein.

You know, I’m so happy that none of our Episcopal bishops would have seen Fellini’s Roma—it being too old-timey and antiquy and all for them—back in the Dark Ages!—or they would be very tempted to institute some of those designs, as long as the material was appropriately shiny, multi-colored, and tie-dyed, and as long as they could wear birkenstocks.
My goodness these guys have some of the worst taste imaginable—I’ll never forget the polyester prayer shawls at GC 2009.
On a related note . . . though some try to spin the Fellini fashion show as “childlike fantasy” I am sorry to say that one recognizes just how much he despised the Roman Catholic church in that 9-minute clip.
Nine minutes of contempt.

Sarah:
I see your point. If this film falls into the wrong hands, “Affirming Catholics” could soon be saying Mass in Fellini fiddlebacks.
And how about a bishop in illuminated vestments carried through the streets on a litter for a Gay Pride parade? I’m surprised they haven’t thought of it already.
Although I still don’t think even that would get the numbers up in California. Most of the people who would welcome such a thing still don’t recognize any need to attend church before they feel qualified to demonstrate contempt for it. Alas for those who do.

I was going to make a comment about how nice it would be to finally have clerical wear like this that one is not embarrassed to wear outside of church…..however perhaps I have it backwards

Guess none of you have read, “The [Anglican] Vicar Wears Prada” story:

OR - Go to Christopher Johnson’s Bad Vestments blog for the obscene in vestments (including the cost, ie, RC Bishop’s $38,000. outfit.)
Fellini and Calvin don’t have the exclusive franchise on vestments suitable for sinful perverted heretic clergy and churches.

Antinomianism has consequences, including vestments and church architecture.
