Shocker: Global Warming Ended 16 Years Ago
Can’t imagine why the climatologists haven’t been all over the tube talking about this amazing find. Must be at home working on Global Cooling Grants.
The world stopped getting warmer almost 16 years ago, according to new data released last week.
The figures, which have triggered debate among climate scientists, reveal that from the beginning of 1997 until August 2012, there was no discernible rise in aggregate global temperatures.
This means that the ‘plateau’ or ‘pause’ in global warming has now lasted for about the same time as the previous period when temperatures rose, 1980 to 1996. Before that, temperatures had been stable or declining for about 40 years. The new data, compiled from more than 3,000 measuring points on land and sea, was issued quietly on the internet, without any media fanfare, and, until today, it has not been reported.
This stands in sharp contrast to the release of the previous figures six months ago, which went only to the end of 2010 – a very warm year.
Ending the data then means it is possible to show a slight warming trend since 1997, but 2011 and the first eight months of 2012 were much cooler, and thus this trend is erased.
Some climate scientists, such as Professor Phil Jones, director of the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, last week dismissed the significance of the plateau, saying that 15 or 16 years is too short a period from which to draw conclusions.

This can’t be correct. NPR says that global warming, climate change, can’t be doubted.

The MSM is giving this the cold shoulder.

Wasn’t it just ten years ago or so that Al Gore said we only had ten years before we were all going to roast due to global warming? If I read this right, in those ten years precisely nothing happened.

Except Gore and his Greenie friends made a ton of money off chumps.

The coauthor of the best study, said there has been no global warming for the past ten years. She is Georgia Tech Professor Judith Curry! So we now have two studies that seem to indicate warming has stopped!

The UK Met Office has responded:
http://metofficenews.wordpress.com/2012/10/14/met-office-in-the-media-14-october-2012/
Here are some excerpts:
“It is the second article Mr. Rose has written which contains some misleading information…
“As we’ve stressed before, choosing a starting or end point on short-term scales can be very misleading. Climate change can only be detected from multi-decadal timescales due to the inherent variability in the climate system…”
They admit that: “changes in the surface temperature ...are also influenced by “external forcings”, such as changes in solar activity, volcanic eruptions or aerosol emissions. Combined, several of these factors could account for some or all of the reduced warming trend seen over the last decade…”
But oddly they don’t admit that “combined, several of these factors could account for some or all of the increased warming trend in the 1980s and 1990s.”

Well golly gee - guess it’s too late for Cap N’ Trade then, huh…shame. I was looking forward to everything being way more expensive too. Oh well, if Obama is re-elected he will work to eliminate coal-fired electric plants and the price of electricity will skyrocket - which will fulfill my dream of everything being more expensive!
There’s always a silver lining…if you look hard enough.
