As part of our adult discipleship hour at Christ Church, Mt. Pleasant, I have the privilege of leading a weekly cultural analysis of contemporary news and events. I call it the “Weekend Review,” and am grateful for the Rev. Dr. Albert Mohler’s inspiration via his daily podcast called The Briefing. In this episode, I look at GQ’s move to “rethink” masculinity in the pages of their magazine as the logical outworking of a denial of what’s increasingly called “the binary,” namely, that “male and female he created them.” While an increasing number of people want to see these issues as secondary to an orthodox Christian witness, I’ll continue to argue that to cede ground in these issues away from Biblical truth and the historic Christian witness threatens the very proclamation of the Gospel of God’s forgiveness and mercy for sinners and, as such, worth the fight!
